Who is this Course for?
I’m delighted to present my new online course for 2025!
‘Wide Open Landscapes’ is all about getting a feeling of space and scale in your work.
Painting landscapes means different things to different people but for many, recreating the emotion of an expansive landscape is what they yearn for. However, do you feel it can be quite daunting? How on earth do you get it all in?
In this course I want to show you ways to get that energy across while making sure it still looks like a landscape.
Some of the topics we’ll be working on:
Dealing with horizons
Creating rhythm & movement
Suggesting depth and space
Exploring composition
How a little detail goes a long way
Mark making
Observation is the key, so we’ll start by gathering visual ideas outside through a combination of sketches, taking photos and written notes.
In the studio we will explore different compositions and work towards finished paintings.

How does it work?
This is a 2 week course. For each week you will receive video tutorials with in-depth demonstrations giving you all the information you need to do your own work. These detailed demonstrations are presented as if you were taking part in an in-person workshop. Except you can watch as many times as you like!
As you make your own work in response to the tutorials, you can share on the Private Facebook Group where you’ll get personal feedback and advice. This makes it a very interactive course with lots of discussion and support.
I keep class sizes low so everyone gets the help they need. I don’t have a team of helpers, so you can be sure that all comments are from me!
You will have complete access to all material for 12 months from the beginning of the course.!
